! INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Pink Spider, a tribute to Hideto "hide" Matsumoto; guitarist of X-Japan, leader/vocalist of Spread Beaver and founder of the label LEMONed. This site is dedicated to both his works in life and memory.

[JUNE 11TH 2008]
I've updated the links to the hide Memorial Extravaganza website, which recently moved to its own domain at Rememberhide.com. Anime Expo also has event information up on its website.

The event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center July 3rd-6th. I will not be able to attend, so if anyone is planning to attend, please bring a video camera! I'm really eager to see how the event goes and I'm wishing its coordinator the best of luck. =)

[FEBRUARY 1ST 2008]
I would like to let everyone know about the hide Memorial Extravaganza being planned for Anime Expo 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 3rd to July 6th. The event is being arranged by fans for fans, and seeks to commemorate hide's life, accomplishments, and contributions to J-rock over the years. There will be a "J-Pop 101" discussing hide's eclectic style and the profound influence it has had upon J-Rock and Visual Kei in Japan, as well as a "Pop Shock Masquerade" competition for the best hide cosplay! ^_^ This will be a coming together of North American hide fans, so if you're at all interested in the event and/or planning to attend Anime Expo this year, give the website for the hide Memorial Extravaganza a visit. There is also an event blog that will be covering the progression of the event to keep you updated.

[MAY 2ND 2006]

[AUGUST 27TH 2005] I changed out the hide picture on the left (I figured the layout needed a little bit of an update). ^_^ I'm sorry, but it will take me a little while before the videos are back up, because I need to rip my DVDs and upload everything all over again.

[MAY 5TH 2005] I've recently been informed of some tragic news.

On September 25, 2005 the hide Museum will be closing for good.

Unfortunately, the costs required to keep the museum going have grown too large to bear in recent years. A translation of the announcement as it was posted on the official website is as follows:

"At this time, we would like to thank you for your patronage and announce that the hide MUSEUM will close on September 25, 2005.

We have come a long way since May 2, 1998, when hide began his journey to heaven. Those who followed hide began the concept of "ROCK" SPIRITS. So many people had the same feelings, and with their support and cooperation, we were able to open the hide MUSEUM as a form of memorial in hide's hometown of Yokosuka on August 20, 2000, the place where the life of a true rock musician began.

For the first three years since its creation, everyone supported us by coming to pay their last respects. Thanks to your kindness, we felt as if we were part of everyone's family. This year, many people came to celebrate the seventh anniversary [of hide’s death], and we were able to feel the warm and genial feelings of everyone present.

We deeply thank you for your support thus far. Even though the hide MUSEUM is closing, we beg you to continue cheering in the name of hide's vision: his "ROCK" SPIRITS. In this, he will live forever.
"

A petition has been started in support of keeping the museum open (which, as of this writing, contains over 4000 signatures). Although it is doubtful that our signatures will change the financial situation that the museum is currently facing, I find it important for all hide fans to sign as a display of continued support for the museum.

Please sign the petition and show your support. Thank you.

[MAY 1ST 2004] RIP hide... your music and memory will always live on in the hearts of your ever-growing fans.

[DECEMBER 28TH 2003] I noticed that my Spread Beaver section disappeared. I decided to update the file before I re-uploaded it. There is now a little more information there about the band and it's members. Check it out! Also, I fixed the images in the gallery section.
